COACHING AND MENTORING COURSE OVERVIEW

1 Day Instructor Led – 9 hours

AIM

1. The CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course is designed for personnel working in a supervisory role. Coaches are expected to be in day-to-day contact with their respective workforce. Their primary focus is the development of the overall competence of each individual within their respective company. There is no pre-requisite for this course but having a basic understanding of coaching skills would be an asset.

COURSE CONTENT

2. The CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course is broken down into the following objectives which each learner will achieve during the program:

a. Define Coaching and Mentoring.
b. Insight into producing a Positive Environment.
c. Insight in using Coaching Techniques.
d. Introduction to Monitoring and Analysing Performance.
e. Insight into Providing Support for other Coaches and Mentees.

COURSE STRUCTURE

3. The fundamental purpose of the CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course is to develop the behavioural skills of the modern effective manager in order for them to facilitate maximal performance by their workforce. In order to fully achieve these aims much of the CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course is designed for delivery in a central presentation followed by small syndicated group discussion, presentations, and practical coaching sessions.

4 The CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course has specific, assessed, coaching and mentoring practices, learners are required to demonstrate their ability to assess, coach and develop learning and development through coaching and feedback, in line with best practice. The learners are required to demonstrate the requisite behaviours required of a modern effective coach throughout the training period. Nonetheless, the CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course is developmental; the course ethos is one of encouragement and motivation.

COURSE CONTEXTUALIZATION

5. The CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course, whilst aimed at ensuring a best practice standard for coaching across each respective company, is not prescriptive to the detriment of specific Single Company training requirements. The course is specifically designed to allow Single Company contextualisation based upon: flexible course programming, Company-Specific instructional practices, methods and media development contextualised by the CORTRA development team.

6. Successfully implemented, the CORTRA Coaching and Mentoring Course will provide a supportive training environment that produces a higher performing workforce that is truly empowered.
